Forten rond Namen

The forts around Namur are a ring of nine strongholds on both banks of the Meuse, built between 1888 and 1891 under General Henri Alexis Brialmont. Designed to block a French invasion, they were instead stormed by German forces in August 1914, leaving these massive structures with a hard-fought history.
