About photolocations.net

Since 2007

Photolocations.net started in 2007 as a simple database of beautiful places to photograph in Flanders. Over the years it grew into a collection of castles, forests, urbex locations and industrial sites — visited by photographers searching for their next wedding, fashion or landscape spot.

Between 2014 and 2024 the project sat dormant. A brief 2022 attempt at an international relaunch under photolocations.net didn't make it to the finish line. The rebuild you're looking at started in 2026.

What this site is

Photolocations.net is a directory of photo locations in Belgium and the Netherlands. Per location you get:

  • Coordinates and a mini-map
  • Today's golden hour and blue hour
  • Parking info and walking distance
  • Photography tips (which hour, which season, which weather)
  • Sample photos (own archive or explicitly licensed from the photographer)
  • Outbound links to Google Images, Instagram, Flickr and 500px for more examples

For those who like the wider angle: blog articles group locations by theme — 10 best foggy spots in Flanders, autumn road trip through the Ardennes, urbex with respect.

What this site isn't

Not a UGC platform. No reviews. No "I was here" check-ins. Content is edited, not piled.

What's next

The site is still building. We start with a few dozen hand-written locations and grow gradually — Flanders + the Netherlands first, then possibly Wallonia and parts of Germany (depending on demand).
