Vondelpark is a 47-hectare public park in Amsterdam-Zuid, opened in 1865 and named after the seventeenth-century poet Joost van den Vondel. With its ponds, mature trees and open-air theatre, it draws millions of visitors a year and is a favourite spot for nature and street photography.
