Bourtange

Groningen· Monument
Description

Bourtange is a fortified village in the far east of the province of Groningen, built between 1580 and 1593 during the Dutch Revolt. Its meticulously restored star-shaped ramparts and moats now form an open-air museum, making it one of the most photogenic fortified villages in the Netherlands.
