Maasplassen

Limburg (NL)· Nature reserve
Description

The Maasplassen are a chain of artificial lakes along the river Meuse, created by former gravel extraction and spread across both Belgian and Dutch Limburg. Together they cover around 30 square kilometres of water, with sites like Elerweerd set to add yet another lake to the network after 2034.
