Hougoumont

Hougoumont is a walled farmstead near Braine-l'Alleud that played a pivotal role in the 1815 Battle of Waterloo, defended by Wellington's troops against repeated French assaults. Little remains of the original farmhouse, but its historic walls and gateways still draw photographers tracing the battlefield.
