Fort de la Chartreuse

Fort de la Chartreuse rises above the Amercœur district of Liège, built between 1817 and 1823 on the orders of King William I to defend the city. After the Belgian Revolution it passed to the new Belgian state, and its massive ramparts still make for a striking photographic backdrop.
