Emmerdennen

The Emmerdennen forest near Emmen began taking shape in 1824, when pine seed was scattered over the sand dunes to halt drifting sand, with formal planting following in 1850. The forest holds Haantjeduin, the highest point of the Hondsrug ridge, alongside small lakes such as het Appeltje and het Haantjebakmeer.
